laparoscopy: A minor surgical procedure in which a surgeon uses a scope to explore the internal structure of the pelvis, in particular the ovaries, fallopian tubes and the uterus.
malignant: A cancerous growth that is dangerous to one's health. Often used to describe a tumor.
menopause: The cessation of a woman's menstrual cycle later in life. A woman is menopausal after her periods have stopped for at least one year.
menstruation: The periodic shedding of the lining of the uterus.
mucinous: Containing or resembling mucin, the main compound in mucus.
neoplasm: A tumor, either benign or malignant.
oophorectomy: Surgery to remove either one or both of a woman's ovaries.
ovary: The female reproductive organ responsible for producing egg cells.
ovulation: The release of an egg from an ovary.
