Symptoms of Ovarian Cysts

Often, women don't know they have an ovarian cyst until they are told so by their doctor. If you have a history of ovarian cysts, or if you are concerned that you might have an ovarian cyst, it is important to know the symptoms of this condition.

• Menstrual irregularities
• Pain in the pelvis
• Pain during intercourse
• Pain when going to the bathroom
• Pelvic pain just before or after your period
• A feeling of fullness in the abdomen
• Problems fully emptying your bladder
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Breast tenderness

If you are experiencing any of the above on a regular basis, talk to your doctor.

	Posted by Carolyn April 22, 2008 at 10:19 AM It is normal, My obgyn new it was a cyst as soon as he did a physical, when he did my check he said my uterous was the size of a six month pregnancy and that is when he sent me for ultrasound and found out it was a cyst.
	Posted by Linda April 21, 2008 at 10:10 AM A male gyn should always have a nurse in the room. You must insist that a nurse be in the room with you. My gyn will not examine unless one of his nurses in the room. I have an ovarian cyst that is causing me problems. My doctor did a physical exam and then he made me have a sonogram of my ovaries that was done in his office. My belief is if a doctor believes you have an ovarian cyst, a sonogram is required. There are many ovarian cysts and they can become cancerous. A sonogram will allow the doctor to see what kind of cysts and if any surgical intervention is need.
	Posted by AllyGator March 12, 2008 at 03:25 PM Your doctor should never make you feel uncomfortable, and you can always request to have someone else in the examination room. However, it is quite normal for a doctor to insert his/her finger(s) in your vagina during a pelvic exam. If you feel very uncomfortable, switch doctors, by all means.
	Posted by Jessica Stewart March 12, 2008 at 03:18 PM Hi, I went to a new obgyn today because I have moved to a new city. I have had many check ups and have also been checked for ovarian cist many times, when the Dr. was examining me there was not a nurse in the room or anybody else besides me and the Dr. He told me he was going to check for cist and he inserted his fingers in me and felt around. To me it was really uncomfortable every time i have gone in to get checked for cist and I have had them before an ultra sound has been done by the Dr. I'm not quite sure if this is a proper procedure to take but because of the fact a nurse was not in the room and I was alone with the Dr makes me feel really uncomfortable I was wondering if this is an issue
